Merthyr v hitchin

Post  Barneyboy on Sat Aug 12, 2017 9:58 am

Have to say what an awful game of football,we couldn't string 2 passes together, kick the ball high and tbh things need to improve quickly!

Why wasn't Matthew Harris put on before Jaye Bowen and surely Ceri Morgan is worth a start instead of Jenkins.Today was a shambles to be honest.

I'm still here to provide fascinating (?) facts - I can reveal that the last league game to finish 0-0 at Penydarren Park was all the way back on 5th March 2013 v Cirencester Town.

The few other 0-0 home results since then have all been in cup ties which went on to be decided on penalties.

We I think are on a par with Hereford in that on twitter they think they will struggle this season because they have only three quarters of a decent side and a lot of work needs to be done to improve things

First half today I thought we were really good, created good chances and really should've gone 1-0 maybe 2-0 up into half-time. Second half was ok, created some chances here and there. I thought Fleetwood was good up front today, held the ball up well and played the likes of Traylor and Corey in well.

I've missed all the friendlies,so haven't had a chance to watch the new lads playing today.
To be honest,I expected a much sterner test from a side like Hitchen , and thought we had the better of the first half.
We started sluggishly after the break, and struggled against them up until the 70th minute, when we finally started playing again. Ash made all the difference when he came on,and I think if he'd started it would have been a totally different game. 0-0 fair result on the day.
