Jack Compton

Bath City are closing in on a deal with former Yeovil Town wideman Jack Compton.

The 28-year-old, who began his career with spells at then Premier League Portsmouth and West Bromwich Albion, was an unused substitute in the Romans' 2-0 pre-season win at Clevedon Town on Saturday afternoon.

Released by Newport County at the end of last season, Compton had been on trial with Yeovil this summer and featured in their 3-1 defeat to Bristol City last week.

However, he is set for a switch to National League South with City in a move that boss Gary Owers has been working on throughout the off-season.

"Jack is someone I think we'll finalise a deal with this week," Owers said. "He's a quality player, been around the league and has to come in and show everyone how good he is.

"He had a slight groin strain today so that will be subject to him being fit.

"But he's a quality addition to the squad, that sort of left footer that I've been looking for."

There is a particular and logical reason why it's free, but it's not up to me to say.

There is a particular and logical reason why this game is free admission, but it's not up to me to say.

Free entry

This club needs every penny they can get their hands on,wether it's free or give what you want I think we should all give something.
Not only could the extras go to player wages or even repairing some of the broken seating even.
