I go along with Phil in that I feel Gavin has a few irons in the fire.Being a manager he no doubt has ambitions and has not taken the job just to amble along. He now knows what it takes to be successful in this league and know the type of players who can cope in this league which must be a positive for us fans. The only disappointment I have is the goal keeper leaving us as this is a specialist position and we need replacement who is experienced. And to think Oliver could find himself more on the bench than between the sticks what a waste

If Gavin does manage to bring a few quality players, what's not stopping the likes of Hereford and Barry from poaching these.in light of recent departures then this needs to be addressed somehow

I'll buy you a pint in Stratford, Sol!

In all seriousness all we all want is the best for MTFC.

Clubs can only have so many players in their squads without causing disharmony. Over the last few seasons we've had players leave because they weren't getting enough football and despite their earnings that happens at the top level let alone at a non league side.

I suggest we all wait until Gavin names his squad and go from there.

Well said Chubbs. He will be greatly missed and I'm sorry to see him leave us.

Spurs supporters are probably saying the same thing about Kyle Walker being poached by Manchester City.

I would like to say that was a great post by Boz, which included many of the points I've been trying to get across in the match programme for the last seven years. Perhaps he should be editor! (Well I did try and poach him).

Just a point regarding the strength of the playing squad - if Matthew Harris and Gavin Williams are now match fit again it's as good as two new players joining the club considering how much of the last two seasons they've missed between them.

Excellent post by Boz.

I was very encouraged to read the statements by the three new board members. They evidently have the qualities needed and it says a great deal for what has already been achieved at the club that they have joined the board.

We have to be patient and trust that the manager's knowledge and experience will enable him to bring in any players he thinks are needed, within the well-known financial constraints that the club must operate under. He may well be playing a waiting game rather than panicking and rushing to sign just anyone. Yes, it is frustrating not knowing what is happening during the seemingly endless close season, and seeing what other, wealthier clubs are doing, but we can hardly expect a running commentary on all the manager's thoughts, hopes, plans and negotiations.

Negativity from a small number of serial complainers will not help - in fact, as has been said, it just demoralises the excellent volunteers and staff and it could also put off potential players who do their homework to see what kind of club they might be joining.

Not long to wait now - let's see who turns out against Newport on Wednesday, and what the completed squad will look like. Then let's have some positivity, optimism and encouragement and get behind the board, other volunteers, staff and players as we continue the club's remarkable journey away from near oblivion.

Those serial complainers as you put it are genuine supporters whom some have given a lot financial support to the club over many years plus time and commitment.Like you good self they express their opinion on a free forum and I am sure they are not trying to be negative but just expressing the concerns that many supporters feel.I have supported this club for 60+years and haved witnessed many people that have saved the club with money out of their own pockets when they probably couldn't really afford it themselves.I sincerely hope the current board don,t have to do that and being a community club they shouldn't have too.I have had my season ticket or at least paid for it,I now have the pleasure of paying £75 to park my car between two white lines, but it is for the club so what, all the best for the coming season,I will be there god willing.

Yes, you can only put 11 players out there no matter how much money you got, Good to have a stong bench of 5 to rely on and say 3 or 4 other squad members - A squad of 19 or 20 quite adequate for this League
