In the words of Chris Kamara - unbelievable Jeff but player safety has to be the paramount consideration and given that Traylor was unavailable it may be a blessing in disguise as we need our strongest side against our play-off rivals.

Never mind back to my crocheting for another week.

Disappointed once again about another postponement on our state of the art pitch.I live in the top of heolgerrig and it is raining my front lawn is perfect for a game of football lol and the focus is good for today. Are we taking in consideration of what conditions would be like in five hours time .perhaps all weather pitch take longer to thaw out ??

Haven't seen the pitch today, but looking at conditions further up the hill in Penydarren (this message timed at 1030am) I wouldn't be surprised if it was playable by 3pm.

But I suppose the trouble was in needing to have such an early inspection and it was a case of it being best to err on the side of caution. Don't know what the latest weather forecast is, but it was wrong about last Wednesday night when it caused the Walking Football on Thursday to be called off..

With a normal pitch the ground/soil freezes? What part of the 3G freezes? Is it the crumb/ or the sand? Or both? Anyone know?

To quote from what people would have read in today's match programme:

'...when I was being shown around the installation the representative from Verde Recreo did point out that artificial grass freezes like anything else – as he said, anything will freeze if the temperature is low enough.'

I did read somewhere recently - maybe a comment on Facebook - that the rubber crumb particles freeze together.

I have seen a mention on the Internet that both the infill particles and the sand will freeze, especially with the latter likely to have retained any moisture that there has been on the pitch.
