Former Martyr Dean Clarke has been appointed Assistant Manager, Ashley Thomas will remain as first team coach.

IMO a good appointment, DC always gave 100% to our club thro the good & bad times, the perfect foil for Gavin he will demand total commitment from everyone on & off the field.

Only have them back if they strengthen our present squad I do not think they will we cannot afford to be sentimental about home grown talent they have to be good enough

I was a big fan of Kerry and Steve took a lot of stick when he left but we did not miss him actually we improved would we have if he stayed is open to conjecture As far as Steve is concerned I think Gavin made the right decision I would give Clark the edge because being from outside the area I think he lives in Hereford he might have a wider knowledge of players in a wider area than Steve. As far as effort in the job both would give over hundred per cent

I don't feel the improvement was anyway to do with Kerry leaving
It was only when S J  started playing two up front did we play with confidence
As far as Clarke  being outside the area don't think it makes a lot of difference
I feel Steve knows the club inside out !!!!!!

The thing about having Steve Williams as assistant manager, is he left the club early last season because he still wanted to be playing regularly, and it's reasonable to assume he still wants to be playing. If as we hope, Gavin Williams is fit enough to play again next season then we could have had the situation where both manager and assistant manager were on the pitch.

As I've said on the other thread, I'm not sure that's a good plan - remember (as I also said there) - a few seasons ago when Garry Shephard was still playing as well as managing he had Danny Carter on the sidelines.

Seven pre season friendlies have been arranged (all the info on the official web site) - five are at home, we travel to Wimborne (Sat 16 July) and Hereford (Sat 30 July)
