End of the pier show

Post  Solihull Martyr on Sat Apr 23, 2016 3:57 pm

So, another season over. For me, a decent one.  Despite our excellent start, I always felt it was a season of consolidation. Indeed the express start stood us in good stead during our mid-season wobble when - despite a run of poor results - we still stayed above the relegation line.  And combined with a good end of season finish - kicked off with a depleted squad at Kings Lynn -  saw us end in 10th position. Chuck in a league cup that - entered only due to the foresight of our Sec!! - we'd not won for over half a century - only the likes of Meurig, Wanderin', OS and the Ginger Monster having any chance of remembering!

Lets hope with a few returnees from injury combined with some new recruits, - and some precis from OS - it will be a play-off challenge next year.

And of course, a big thanks to the Management and Team for an enjoyable season.  And the Board sack 'em all!) for the stability.  And all those behind the scenes - particularly the likes of Imp, Old S*d and Boz for the programme and reports.

Finally, a big thanks to the fans - especially the travelling faithful - for the fun and humour.  God willing, see y'all in a few months!

In the words of Sister Sledge Sol- we are family- the Martyrs Family- we all contribute Sol in different ways and as I always say football is just a small facet of 'life's rich tapestry' and a basic form of artistic entertainment until we 'shuffle off our mortal coils'.

Regrettably, some people take life too seriously and end up with a miserable disposition and drown in bile, jealousy and spite or a life of regrets at what they 'didn't do'.

It is the likes of Matt the Martyr, the Imp, and the other stalwarts of our club (who give up their time on a volunteer basis purely on their love of the 'beautiful game' ) - that are the backbone of our Community Club .

Without sounding twee but with the camaraderie that exists at our small Valleys Club, we do keep a welcome in the Hillsides and the Vales.

And whilst Norwegian Band Aha were correct in that the 'sun always shines on TV' ....it is the Sol that shines on the forum.
