3G approved by National League

Post  cliffyboy on Thu Jan 21, 2016 9:44 am

At today's EGM hosted at Telford clubs in the National League (Conference) voted in favour of the use of 3G pitches. Very Happy
It is understood a large contingent of League Two clubs are also keen to allow their use.

Good news for Maidstone, currently second in National League South.

Good to see the decision is now ratified and that Merthyr Town can be seen as forward think trailblazers for 3G .

After all with our wet climate, being 1000 feet above sea level on an Island off the vast Atlantic Ocean, if we wanted football on our limited budget...did we really have a choice?

Officials of the National League have indicated that this decision is subject to ratification and confirmation by the Football League (although this should only involve dotting the i's and crossing the t's), but they have also commented that Club's would have to fund the cost of installing a 'FIFA Quality Pro' standard pitch (this technical grading will be introduced at the end of this season) themselves as grants from Football funding sources would not be available.

I think it's the Football Association.

Yes it is the FA. Very few (if any) teams at our level will be able to afford to install a 3G pitch without funding, so waterlogged pitches will be the norm for the foreseeable future Rolling Eyes
