Can anyone give the full names of the players who scored for Merthyr A in the final match?

Best of luck to the Merthyr Town Walking Football team - champions of Wales - who make the long journey to Hartlepool tomorrow (Sunday) to compete in the UK championships against Montrose from Scotland and Herne Bay from England.

Walking the Line

Post  Boz1964 on Sat Nov 12, 2016 3:41 pm

Good luck to the 'lads' representing Merthyr in the Town that hangs monkeys as French spies tomorrow.

Most of all enjoy the experience but do your best to bring home some silver surfer ware.

Sad to say that Merthyr/Wales have lost all four of their games by the same scoreline, 0-1. Two against England and two against Scotland. England & Scotland now contest the final.

Ouch.

Still, well done to our greying enthusiasts for reaching the final.

That said, perhaps we should avoid naming them...!

Take a look at @MTFC_Community's Tweet: https://twitter.com/MTFC_Community/status/797822669676773376?s=09

No need to not name the squad, was an excellent achievement to qualify and the English fa rules were very different to what we've been used to playing under. So for information, the squad was Eddie Thomas, Richard Owens, Les Thomas. Keith Evans. Steve Gwynne, Paul Knight, Bob Harrison, Steve Fryzer and Mike Soroko Coach was Peter Jones.

Proud to represent Merthyr Town and Wales

Considering they were playing, in their own words - Semi Professionals- our home grown talent should be very proud of the performance.

You do need the correct sort of footwear for a 3G pitch though:

This sounds like the return of Michael Fish, not the best decision.

Yes, but at least Elliott was erring on the side of caution. If I recall correctly Mr Fish said "What hurricane - there won't be one (sic)".

It was very annoying though - especially as I'd been out and bought 20 loaves of bread and 10 bottles of milk.
